Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity, equity and inclusion are foundational to everything we do and is woven into the strategies, practices and future of the Junior League of Las Vegas. We strive to cultivate a League culture that reflects the community around us — one where every member feels welcomed, supported, and empowered to show up as their authentic self.

All women who value our mission are welcome.

DEIB Committee Purpose

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee exists to strengthen awareness, deepen understanding, and provide thoughtful guidance that supports inclusive practices across the League.

The Committee creates safe, collaborative spaces for learning and dialogue while championing meaningful progress — within JLLV and throughout the broader community. Our work centers on advancing equity, fostering belonging, and advocating for change on the most complex and important issues affecting our members and those we serve.

Our approach is grounded in four pillars:

  • Engage

  • Educate

  • Empower

  • Impact

Shared Understanding: Key Terms

To ensure clarity and shared language, we anchor our work in the following definitions:

Diversity

The presence of differences among people, including race, ethnicity, age, culture, religion, ability, experience, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and other lived experiences.

Equity

The fair treatment of all individuals, recognizing that systemic barriers exist and ensuring people have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. Equity differs from equality by acknowledging disparities and actively working to remove obstacles to participation and success.

Inclusion

The intentional creation of environments where individuals feel welcomed, respected, supported, and valued — enabling full participation. While diversity refers to representation, inclusion reflects how people experience belonging within a space.

Belonging

A sense of acceptance, security, and connection — where individuals feel valued for who they are and supported in forming meaningful, lasting relationships.

Action Leads to Progress

We are proud of the progress we have made and recognize that DEIB work is ongoing. Sustaining meaningful impact requires continued learning, reflection, and action.
