The Little Black Dress Initiative (LBDI) is an international advocacy and fundraising campaign that raises awareness of the barriers created by poverty. Founded in 2014 by the Junior League of London, the initiative encourages participants to wear the same black dress or outfit for five consecutive days. This simple act sparks conversations about limited resources, economic insecurity, and how poverty impacts access to opportunities.

The Junior League of Las Vegas has proudly participated in LBDI for several years, using the campaign to raise awareness, share educational content, and generate funds that support programs serving vulnerable children, youth, and families across Southern Nevada. Through social media engagement and community conversations, JLLV members help illuminate the daily challenges faced by individuals experiencing poverty and highlight the importance of collective action.

HELP of Southern Nevada’s Shannon West Homeless Youth Center
JLLV supports at-risk youth through tutoring, meal preparation, life skills programming, and year-round volunteer engagement.

Holiday Bear Project
Since 1987, JLLV has provided more than 100,000 gifts to over 9,000 children in need during the holiday season, ensuring families experience joy and dignity.

Three Square Food Bank Partnership
JLLV hosts multiple pop-up food pantries each month in collaboration with Three Square, distributing thousands of pounds of food to families facing food insecurity.

The campaign has helped strengthen community awareness of poverty, engaged supporters across the Valley, and reinforced JLLV’s role in addressing critical needs.
